1. Purchase the node and wait until it is deployed (online)
2. Wait until the node is fully synced. It might take up to few hours. You will see block-number and proof in the dashboard after the sync. If you don't see block number and proof this means that your node is not yet synced, please wait patiently.
3. Go to Aztec official discord channel: operators | start-here
4. Type in /operator start
5. Put in your EVM address, block-number and proof from your node dashboard
6. If everything is correct you will get an Apprentice role
7. Wait a few days. Your node should appear in explorer: https://aztec.nethermind.io/
Please note that it might take a few days for node to appear in the explorer! Also, if your node is not found, please kindly check official Aztec discord for any updates before contacting us as the whole network might be down(this happened a few times already) therefore most of the nodes are undiscoverable.
8. Go to upgrade-role channel and use /checkip command to claim Guardian role. IP address is available on the right side in Node Data section. Please note that criteria for Guardian role is not disclosed publicly and we don't know will you be eligible or not during next snapshot. Try again every day until the role is claimed. If your node shows healthy logs and block number is updating then you just have to wait, there is nothing else we can do to speed up this process.
9. You can optionally use telegram bot @azteccheck_bot to track your node. Please note that it might be delayed and it only shows uptime since last restart, so that if it shows uptime 24 hours but your node is launched one week ago it is normal.

🧠 Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I see "Validator registration failed: Proof is too old" what should I do?
A: Please try again in a few hours (your proof should refresh). Sometimes the network is down. Sometimes you will also see "Bot not responding error", or "500 code error", this means there is an issue on Aztec side, please wait until they fix it. Do not contact us if it failed once, most likely if you try after 8-12 hours it will work.
Q: I see "ERROR: p2p:reqresp Error on libp2p subprotocol ...", is my node broken?
A: No, your node is fine. This is a very common error in Aztec Network, it is not critical and there is nothing we can do to fix it. This error means that ANOTHER node in the network does not respond to your requests. Your node is working fine. You might want to check Aztec discord because sometimes if there are too many errors the network is down you they are fixing it.
Q: I see "The application did not respond" error in discord when I try to claim any role
A: This is an issue on Aztec side, this usually happens when Aztec servers are down. We can't affect it or fix it. Please refer to Aztec support or wait until it is fixed on their side.
Q: My node is running for a few days but I still can't find it in the explorer (aztec.nethermind.io), why?
Please note that it might take some time for the node to be displayed in the explorer and we don't exactly know how much time it takes. What you can do meanwhile is go to official discord, operators | start-here channel and use /operator is-ready command with your node IP address from the dashboard. If everything is green and ports are opened, then your node works perfectly fine! Just wait until it will catch up with the explorer. Please do not contact us about your node, if everything is green the node works fine and we can't do anything about it.
If it shows red and some ports are blocked, then there might be a problem and you can contact us so we can check the node.
Q: My node was running for a long time but I'm still not eligible for the Guardian role upgrade! Why?
A: The Aztec team does not disclose role criteria in public, therefore we can't guarantee or predict anything. Based on the recent information from Aztec team, the amount of slots for the roles is limited. This means, that even if your node is working perfectly fine, you are NOT GUARANTEED to get the role. For example, if there are only 500 slots available for the role and there are 10000 nodes running, then you only have 5% chance to claim the role even if your node uptime is 100%.
